Artemin Store is thrilled to introduce Living Project, a concept that encourages artists to find inspiration in everyday life, weaving art effortlessly into daily routines and embracing the philosophy that “art and life are one.” This project will be showcased at One Art Taipei 2025, taking place at the JR East Hotel Taipei from January 11 to January 12, 2025, allowing audiences to immerse themselves in the artists' creations and experience how life deeply inspires art.
This time, for One Art Taipei, we extend this initiative from the digital space to a physical exhibition, offering the audience a firsthand experience of the artists’ creations and how everyday life profoundly inspires art.
This exhibition brings together five artists: Yusuke Umakawa, Mie Takahashi, Midori Nakajima, Megumi Okamoto, and Hansol Park. Through their ceramic works, they showcase their personal journeys and creative processes in the context of daily life. As the saying goes, “clay has memory – it remembers every touch, every gesture.” Each artist engages in a dialogue with the clay, transforming it with every motion, leaving traces that capture the emotions and thoughts of the moment. These works not only extend their inner worlds but also offer tangible representations of their everyday experiences.
From firing temperatures and times to glaze and body thickness, the ceramic creation process is full of variables. Even when creating similar shapes or objects, each piece takes on its own distinct character due to subtle differences, brimming with life and becoming a physical manifestation of the creator’s spirit.
The inaugural physical exhibition of Living Project, Life Unfolded, invites everyone to actively engage and experience the warmth of the artists’ daily lives and the vibrant life force within their creations. Come visit us at ROOM 1318!
Yusuke Umakawa, a ceramic artist from Hyogo, Japan, explores profound themes of life, humanity, consciousness, and the relationship between matter and existence through his creations, infusing these deep philosophical reflections into his ceramic works.
The “material” series, featured in this exhibition, is Umakawa’s interpretation of the idea of the body as a vessel for consciousness. Combining functionality with artistry, these works merge the practical utility of cups and saucers with artistic expression, resulting in pieces that are both functional and aesthetically evolved. Built upon the simplicity of spherical forms, each piece becomes unique through varied combinations, embodying a philosophy that weaves profound ideas into everyday life, offering viewers a thought-provoking sense of wonder.
Mie Takahashi is an artist who draws inspiration from the lines and forms found in her daily sketches, transforming them into sculptural works.
Her featured collection at this exhibition is the long-evolving “Gradation Form” series. These pieces originate from everyday observations, nostalgic memories, and countless shapes within her imagination. By intentionally preserving their ambiguity, she translates them into sketches before giving them a three-dimensional form. Through this creative process, Takahashi seeks to craft shapes that feel both familiar and intriguingly undefinable, inviting viewers to explore a sense of recognition and mystery.
Megumi Okamoto, based in Tokyo, graduated from the Department of Industrial, Interior, and Craft Design, specializing in ceramics, at Musashino Art University. Fascinated by the idea of “creating human figures using clay as a material,” she primarily uses the hand-building technique to craft ceramic works centered around human motifs.
The pieces in her Miller series aim to integrate artistic creation into daily life. Many of the works incorporate mirror elements, allowing individuals to reflect on themselves through the mirror—not just their appearance, but also to deeply question and explore their inner world. When not used as mirrors, they reflect light, shining like a gateway to another world, symbolizing the artist Okamoto’s aspirations.
박한솔Hansol Park
박한솔 (Hansol Park) 以日常生活中發現的靈感作為素材，進行繪畫和陶瓷創作。
Hansol 以 “small things will happen for you” 為核心，製作能讓生活更加幸福的物品。他希望帶著微妙且含蓄表情的 Steadinary 小夥伴們，能成為大家生活中帶來小確幸的護身符。
Hansol Park (박한솔) draws inspiration from everyday life to create illustrations and ceramic works.
With the motto “small things will happen for you” at its core, Hansol crafts items that bring happiness to daily life. He hopes that the subtly expressive Steadinary companions can serve as small talismans of joy and comfort in everyone’s lives.
Midori Nakajima is an illustrator and ceramic artist known for blending girly aesthetics and pop styles with a touch of dark humor.
Her creations go beyond mere cuteness, focusing on infusing humor and her unique perspective to inspire viewers’ reflections. Through her works, Nakajima aims to deliver more than just visual delight — she seeks to offer a fresh perspective on daily life, inviting audiences to step into her intriguing and captivating artistic world.
